1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies (like local storage) work the same way.
2. How we use them
This website is deliberately light on cookies:
- Essential storage: remembering your cookie choice, so we don't ask again. Always on, and stored on your device only.
- Analytics (optional): a privacy-focused tool (PostHog, EU-hosted) that helps us understand how the site is used. This loads ONLY if you choose “Allow analytics” on our banner, and when it does it keeps its own entry in your browser's local storage to avoid double-counting you between pages.
We do not use advertising cookies, and nothing here follows you to other websites. If either of those ever changes, we will ask you first.
One thing this choice does not cover, so you know where you stand: our calculator keeps an anonymous record of each use, to build honest sector averages and to fix the parts of the maths people tell us are wrong. It uses no cookies and no tracking identifiers, and it is not affected by the choice above. There is more detail in sections 1 and 8 of our privacy policy.
3. Managing your choice
Changed your mind? Use the Cookie settings link at the foot of any page: it clears your choice, asks you again, and removes the analytics tool's own storage entry from your device. You can also clear your browser's storage at any time to be asked again, and you can control all cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential storage may affect how the site works.
4. Changes
We may update this policy as needed.
